The poles had been replaced about a year ago, and the old ones were still lying on the ground and full of WP holes. Not sure of the decoys work but we do see GSW's here a lot so I guess they were the ones responsible for the damage. |

If the Great Spotteds are using electricity/telegraph poles in certain areas (UK!) it probably means there is a shortage of suitable trees - maybe old, dead and dying timber is being too diligently cleared up?
The "drumming" on metal posts and pylons is because some birds have found the sound more to their liking than from wood - but again, possibly reflecting a lack of suitable timber?? Not that drumming is going to harm a metal structure although it might irritate any human neighbours!
*Thinks* Now how can I persuade some woodpeckers to destroy the two ridiculous giant fibre-glass fake telegraph poles just across from the end of our road....?
