| | | Pleasant surprise! Went for a stroll by the river this morning, camera in toe, just
in case I saw anything interesting
I saw a Mute Swan and her 2 young, a couple of Grey Heron
which seemed to be tormenting the sheep on the other bank,
and a Mallard with her brood of ducklings. Tried to get some pics, but
I really need to invest in a proper DSLR, instead of a little compact!!!
What made my day, was on the walk home, as I came to the style, there
right in front of me on the style was a little Song Thrush, busily bashing
the living daylights out of a snails shell to get at the flesh. It gave me a
glancing look, then just continued bashing the shell. I waited till she moved off,
before continuing on my way with a big smile on my face.
Although I did wish I hadn't put the camera away, just before!!!!! |

| | Re: Pleasent surprise! Generaly the song thrush is quiet teritorial and will have certain smashing points in its area. They will often return to that point for the removal of the next meal from its packing. evidence of broken shells should be present. might be worth while hanging around for a while next time to get a pic. |

| | | Re: Pleasant surprise! All true. Camera in boot or house = fab pic potential everywhere, camera in hand, battery charged etc = pouring rain or animal dirth Odd.
I've had my new canon 100mm macro since last Monday, pouring rain since and now looks like I may have mumps

Although I did wish I hadn't put the camera away, just before!!!!! | I love the Song Thrush. Managed to get a few decent shots of one recently in Wales. At one point it too looked like it was bashing a snail. |

6 feet from her. She just carried on feeding
Damn! I'll need to think of a better excuse for not taking a picture | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
