Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone knows what this duck species is? Pictured with canada geese and mallards for scale. I assume it's feral / escaped but thought I'd ask in case anyone knows. Photographed in Nottinghamshire.

Hybrid Mallard perhaps? think they're fairly common, doesn't look like any particular breed. |

Possibly, but it's about twice the size of a mallard, really quite big. |

It's definitely a hybrid, and at least part Mallard/domestic duck, but I wonder if it's got some Pintail in it? The bill looks very Pintail like, and the head colour as well. The yellow eye is unusual, as most dabbling ducks have dark eyes.

Mallards have been known to mate with at least 24 other species of birds...including chickens  |

I've seen this kind of colouration in Duck books before and it was a Mallard x Khaki Campbell.

Looks like a domestic Mallard form to me, fairly typical of parks, etc. | | |
