| | | Crows My resident Pied Wagtails had a nest in my courtyard garden (in a large planter complete with bedding plants) they have worked tirelessly bringing up the four young to near fledling stage only to have the lot taken by a crow this morning. I know its nature and they will nest again but distressing never the less |

| | | Re: Crows Yes it's distressing + heartbreaking when you've seen all the parents' endeavours + you become attached to them! But, as you say it's nature + Crows have to eat too! |

| | | Re: Crows I like Corvids but they have to eat,I armour up any garden nests
to make it more difficult for the local corvids by adding discrete
chicken wire, rose cuttings etc.without too much disturbance
(don't forget the back door)

| | | Re: Crows How sad I'd be heart broken too. However, now the parents have learnt a valuable lesson about where to nest build I suppose and maybe they'll try again somewhere more secure. The strongest survive don't they, not much consolation though I know.... |

| | | Re: Crows How sad, poor babies. I love corvids though, they're such fascinating birds and it's all part of nature. I suppose you feel bad as you've been watching them all along and yet this sort of thing happens all over but they were your babies weren't they . |
