spot the difference


Yesterday I took a photo of these two redshanks. Can anyone tell me please if the one on the right is young one, as it looks slightly different eg around the back of the neck, shorter bill (although that might be due to angle of capture) darker under the wing.

I believe the one on the right of the picture is a Juvenile Redshank and the one on the left is an adult.

Thanks Crested Newt. So would it have been born last year then (1st summer?), as the chicks from this year would be too small still?
