Question Bab Blue Tit

This aftenoon some kids found a baby blue tit over my garden fence. Unfortunatly they picked it up thinking they were saving it, so I'm assuming their scent is on it.
They wanted me to ring the RSPB, which I did, and as they were closed a recorded message told me to ring the RSPCA or my vet. I rang my vet to be told to put the chick somehere high and hope the mother returns.
The chick is at present sitting on my shed roof. It appears to have feathers and could have possibly tried, not too succesfully, to fly, resulting in its situation. What should I do for it if the mother doesn't/won't return to it?

Re: Bab Blue Tit

where in the country are you, just incase mum does'nt come back. If it is fully fethered though its best left well alone.

bird don't have all that great sence of small they go more by sight and sound. so picking a bird up and getting your mell on it won't make the mother reject it.
