| | | A very unexpected visitor !!!! Today i was making my breakfast and had the front door open that leads on to my courtyard open. i turned to sit at the table and 2 swallows zoomed in through the door !!!!! . One immediately turned and flew back out but the other lost his way and went towards a window and was fluttering there attempting to get out. I managed to catch him and he was calm the whole time and it felt great to release him unhurt back into the sky. I can tell you that woke me up |

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly these birds fly without having an "accident"!

Getting cool birds in your garden is one thing.......getting them in your house is just showing off. |

I took the children down to my nan's 90th bday party last week and whilst away my better half took advantage of this to give the house an airing (stay with it, I do get to the story eventually....)
Having opened the window in one of the bedrooms the missus saw that the house martins were a bit agitated and not going into their nest above the window (under the eaves). This, of course, drew the attention of our cat who sat on the windowsill to watch. Thinking that the window was obstructing the flight path into their homes 'er indoors opened it further at which point things turned into a sylvester the cat cartoon...A house martin flew in through the window and was instinctively trapped under the paw of the cat, much to the surprise of the cat the bird and the missus. Of course, like the cartoon, my partner took the role of Granny and immediately freed poor Tweetie from the evil clutches of the cat and off the house martin flew none the worse for wear.
That all sounded shorter in my head.... |
