| | | Baby Bird found:- advice needed Hi all,
Our cat brought in a baby blackbird last night. Thankfully it has survived the night and it now has a very healthy appetite for cat food and worms. I'm not an expert by any means but it is fully feathered and looks as though it would probably be ready to fledge quite soon. I'm guessing is was probably blown out of it's nest in the windy weather.
Our dilemma now is what to do with it... Should we
A:- Put it out in a box on top of the hedge in the hope that the parents may come back and feed it.
B:- Take it to a wildlife hospital (can anyone recommend one nearish to Milton Keynes?)
C:- Continue feeding it ourselves with a view to releasing it when ready to fly.
Does anyone have any experience or advice they can share?

| | | Re: Baby Bird found:- advice needed If it has feathers leave it alone, the parent is probably around somewhere
but watch out for cats
If it looks as if it has fallen from a nest that you can see in the immediate area
put it back if safe to do so
Many wildlife rescue organisations are overwhelmed with baby birds but seek
their advice Google is very helpful also

After they leave the nest the parents carry on feeding the young for awhile. |

Thanks for your replies. Found a local wildlife hospital and dropped him/her off there. As the bird was brought in by our cat it was impossible to tell where he had come from and there are too many cats in the neighbourhood to safely leave a bird outside so this seemed like the most sensible option.
