| | | Diary of day at Bempton Last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to accompany Cordless Dave to Bempton Cliffs. The weather forecast was less then promising and we passed through showers and rain, especially when we climbed up onto the Yorkshire Wolds. However, the gods smiled on us. Although it was cloudy before lunch, it didn't rain; and, after lunch, the wind got up and cleared the clouds away (along with the smell of guano) - the high wind did sometimes make it difficult to hold one's camera steady - but who was complaining. I have visited the Seven Sisters and the Gower coastline but I have never seen so many birds before. In fact, I had never seen any gannets, guillemots, razorbills, puffins or kittiwakes at all - only on TV. So, please forgive me if I have overdone this post, but I was overwhelmed. Many of the birds were gathering nesting material and this is reflected in some of the shots. I have also tried to give a flavour of the day.
I was attracted by the precarious position of the nest
I think I had probably had the ISO setting too high and it shows on this shot - not time so far to use Neat Image
These kittiwakes had quite a scrap
A seabird hotel
By this time, my memory card was full and I was frantically checking to see which images I could bin to leave room for a few more
It really was an amazing day.

Your report reminds me of my own trip up there recently .... a highly recommended site as I am sure you agree.

| | | Re: Diary of day at Bempton Super shots, you do indeed tell a pictorial story, that Razorbill shot does precisely that; it is a stunner!
