| | Birdsong As the sun sets on what has been a beautiful day here in the north east, with blue skies and sunshine following a frost, we were treated to a serenade by a thrush sitting about 20ft atop a bog standard conifer tree. The tree is in a neighbouring garden and is due for removal soon, but I hope the thrush returns for much appreciated encores. |

| | | Re: Birdsong We have had a Song Thrush in full voice for a few weeks now. It's a great wake up call I must admit. The bird seems to pick a different perch each day and yesterday it was the tree in our gardens turn

| | | Re: Birdsong My eldest son and I once did a 4.00am dawn chorus walk along a local cycle track the two chaps leading the walk would name a bird by its song and its approx start time, it was absolutely fascinating, especially when we could actualy see the songster.Does anyone remember a recording the bbc used to play of the dawn chorus that became a top selling recording?or am I mistaking it for something else

| | | Re: Birdsong The birdsong I hear every morning is produced by crows. However, I was led to believe that crows ARE in fact songbirds... I'm still having trouble finding the beauty in that though.... |

| | | Re: Birdsong I was out last Saturday morning and Robins, Dunnocks and Great Tits were all in full song. It was nice and sunny and could almost have been Spring .... except it was damn cold and there was frost on the ground!
A Song Thrush has been singing regularly (including during the night!) close to my flat since at least early January.
