| | | International Dawn Chorus Day 2007 We have had the advert for World Naked Gardening Day but now back to the wildlife stuff.
Tomorrow (Sunday May 6th) is International Dawn Chorus Day 2007 .... International Dawn Chorus Day 2007
There are plenty of events being organised around the UK mainly by the County Wildlife Trusts but you can always do your own thing and visit your own local patch.
Mind you, you probably need to be up and out by 4 a.m. to fully appreciate the dawn chorus.
Looks like I will have to tape Match of the Day and get to bed early .

| | | Re: International Dawn Chorus Day 2007 Since this didn't involve taking clothes off, I actually took part in this one
I'm suffering now from the after effects of the stupidly early start to the day, but I thoroughly enjoyed the event I attended (at Snipe Dales, Lincs). My bird call recognition is extremely poor so I really appreciated the help from the bird people there For me the highlights were hearing a grasshopper warbler, seeing whitethroats and watching a kestrel sitting on a tree stump giving its feathers a good seeing to. I'm still not confident at putting a bird name to a call ...perhaps one day! |

| | | Re: International Dawn Chorus Day 2007 Many years ago my eldest son decided to go on a Dawn Chorus walk locally
I am used to getting up early so took him along, the walk leader really knew
his stuff and named the birds from their songs before we even caught a glimpse!
Just seeing things while the day was so new the air cool and clean every
bird newly minted, the subtle shading in the sky as the sun stretches skyward
makes the bird song a beautiful bonus
I am still hoping to go to the Slimbridge Dawn Chorus but have a Bat Walk
in the evening (Leigh Woods Bristol)
