| | | Birds of prey. Information needed Hi Wabbers
I have recently started working with birds of prey and Owls. Some of the information given to my by my peers does not seem as accurate as it could be
Could someone guide me to a site where the information is the most accurate and upto date?
This would be most appreciated by me and my public

| | | Re: Birds of prey. Information needed The RSPB, the BTO and the WWT are all reliable sources of information, there are also the books published by Poyser - do a search for them second-hand.
Under no circumstances take any notice of the "Songbird survival trust"!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Under no circumstances take any notice of the "Songbird survival trust"!!!!!!!!!!!!! | indeed.....we were next to them at the last fair we did and they blamed birds of prey for everything. rubbish. everything they say is a complete load of cobblers.
there are some wildlife enquiries leaflets available from the RSPB (the blue and white ones you see at reserves) which cover individual birds of prey, and also a seperate one which covers birds of prey and the law. you can get them from wildlife enquiries at the lodge.

| | | Re: Birds of prey. Information needed In that case, you definitely need to do what was mentioned by a previous wabber - buy some books, the Poyser series should give you all the information you need. They're not cheap but you can get second-hand ones. Try Birdnet Optics: Birdnet Ltd., they specialise in such books.
Good luck |

| | | Re: Birds of prey. Information needed I can recommend the birds of western paleartic on dvd rom its expensive but has huge amounts of detail for all species including behaviours, plumages, plate illustrating eggs, the birds, videos footage and calls.
Or I can recommend this book which covers the crazy mutitude of different plumage colours you can get for each species in colour photos with further information detailling moult patterns and general ecology:
The Raptors of Europe and the Middle East
Series: POYSER NATURAL HISTORY
A Handbook of Field Identification
The short name for richard that this site feels is a swear word 'oooo' Forsman
608 pages, 700 col photos, 100 line illus, maps.

I've been a member for some 18 years now and although a relatively small conservation organisation they do some excellent work, including some serious scientific research projects involving UK birds of prey and owls.
