Day out.

My husband, Ian, and myself went to the RSPB reserve at Lochwinnoch today and here are a few of the species of bird we managed to spot:-
mute swans, mallards, goldeneye, turfted ducks, herons, cormorants, buzzards, kestrels and best of all............2 MALE SMEW!!!!

Amongst the smaller birds we also managed to see, and hear, a great spotted woodpecker. All in all a great day out.

I had a very reluctant early rise this morning - caused by toothache - but it actually turned out to be a great start to the day. Viretually all signs of winter had disappeared overnight and it was quite warm with the birds in full song and a few buttrerflies darting around the local hedgerows. It really felt like the first day of spring.

We had visitors from Cornwall over the weekend who noticed that our daffs haven't even opened yet, whilst theirs are virtually on the way out.
