| | | Puzzled?? Hi guys. Some of you may know I had the excitement of a nuthatch visiting me . He came on Tuesday morning last week and then came again on Wednesday and thursday morning all at 8 oclock visits. Then i saw him at 5 o clock on thursday also. Now for a week I have not seen him at all . I would have thought he would have continued visiting once he had found a good food supply . Can anyone elighten me on this? |

| | | Re: Puzzled?? Hi, in the last couple of weeks, our nuthatches have stopped visiting the feeder, though they are nesting very near and we see (and hear!) them in "their" tree. They'd been everyday visitors all through the winter.
I think that with the coming of the warm weather there are many more insects about and they prefer a nice yummy bug to dry old seeds. |

| | | Re: Puzzled?? The nuthatches haven't been visiting our garden much lately (indeed, nothing much has) but I was out in our local woods yesterday and saw at least four pairs busy nesting and feeding on the trees ... with summer coming on they don't need our food! |

| | | Re: Puzzled?? Having observed a pair of nuthatches that visit our garden for a complete year, I know from what I have seen, they do have a tendency to come and go.
This pair will visit regularly throughout the day for many days on end and then disappear for quite a while, but I know they will turn up again at at some point.
Even though there is a good supply of insects at the moment, my feeders are still fairly busy.
