Linnet

Saw my first Linnet on a trip to Pulborough Brooks over the weekend. I had no idea what the bird was at the time as it was at a bit of a distance and thought at first it was a Dunnock until I spotted some pinkey colour on its breast.

I just had the chance of one shot only unfortunately, so all things considered it didnt come out too bad - shame it wasnt a little closer and the chance to get some better pics.

It's a nice photo Linda and shows the pink breast colour well. My experience with Linnets are that they are rather flighty birds that don't allow you to get very close so I think you have done well to get this photo.

Lovely birds- those males always look as though they've spilt some raspberry jam down their fronts!

Nice shot LindB, I've yet to see a Linnet in the UK, always see them over at my sister's place in France though.

Thanks everyone for looking and your nice comments on the photo - it makes me feel a whole lot better about the photo now. I was a little aprehensive about posting the photo up as it wasnt particularly good (compared to a lot of bird shots I see).

I saw my first at Dungeness this week. It kindly sat on a wire fence so we could get a good look. No camera though!
