Willow Warblers

Heard my first Willow Warblers (3 singing) of the year this morning while on the Forest.

Anyone else seen or heard any yet?

Re: Willow Warblers

not yet, no. I was in Derbyshire yesterday and there were Chiffchaffs everywhere but no sign of any other warblers. Good to see they're starting to arrive.

Re: Willow Warblers

I was at Rutland Water yesterday, and there were loads of Chiffchaffs singing there as well, but no other migrants apart from a few Sand Martins and 1 Blackcap. I think the northerly winds of the last week or so have held up the migrants - usually by this time I've at least seen Swallow, Willow Warbler and Yellow Wagtail.

Re: Willow Warblers

We went to Kew Gardens earlier + had my first singing Willow Warbler of the year as well as 2 singing Blackcap + 3 singing Chiffchaff. Biggest surprise though was my first site record of a flyover Rook with a couple of Crows; former normally seen only on rural surrounds of London, though occasional records of flyovers are recorded.

Kept my eyes on sky for raptors, though only 3 Sparrowhawks seen, including a pair together. When I got home at least 2 Red Kites + Buzzard had been seen around London!

Re: Willow Warblers

Plenty of Chiffchaffs in Lncolnshire and someone told me they had seen a Blackcap but I didn't see it myself. No Swallows Sand Martins or Willow Warblers on my local patch yet.

Re: Willow Warblers

I was at Whisby yesterday, plenty of Chiffchaffs, but nothing else. Sand Martins have arrived, but nothing like their usual numbers. Last year at this time there were hundreds of them.

Re: Willow Warblers

Plenty of Chiffchaff at my local also. But still no sign of Willow Warbler/House Martin or Swallow, all of which i'd seen by this time last year

Will be around there a bit of the next few days, so i'm hopeful of hearing one

Heard a Willow Warbler singing in the park behind my house this morning. Only the second one I've had here in two years.

Re: Willow Warblers

Had a willow warbler in the garden all morning singing loudly. It seemed to be in competition with the resident wren for who could sing the loudest!

Re: Willow Warblers

Willow Warbler at Pulborough Brooks on Sunday

Chiffchaffs have been in my area for a couple of weeks (Surrey) and 2 Blackcaps recently spotted in a small local park.

Re: Willow Warblers

Plenty of Willow warblers at Dungeness on Tuesday. Could certainly hear them although only managed to glimpse a couple. A few Reed Buntings too. Also my son and I couldn't be sure (they were too quick) but we saw a couple of Martins as well
