I am in no doubt the Rooks were there first!!??
I lived for 6 years right under a rookery,in fact I was born only about 40 foot from one ...still miss it very much...even started writing a little story about 1 of them called Royston!!We have a few crows & jackdaws...oh and a bunch of very noisy magpies here, but sorry to say non nesting in our garden, just feed here, and here they will stay!
Our nature is under enough threat without people moving into places and then destroying the nature around them, unless you are in danger...as in our case we had 3 wasps nests...hated killing them...would have left them if they hadn't been so close to the property..the moles, rats, snakes etc have all stayed and I am always aware of them when gardening and leave them alone.

| | | Re: Does any anyone know how to get rid of rooks humanely? i know theyre expensive but you could invest in a bird scarer.ive been fishing near lincoln and one of the farms near where we go has a scarer about every 20mins or so theres a loud bang like a gunshot that scares the birds away. maybe they use shot gun blanks on a timer but its deffinitely effective.

How to be really popular with your neighbours....!
