Sigma 150-500 OS
Posted 13-03-2009 at 02:40 PM by wrogers
I have had my Sigma 150-500 OS for about a fortnight now, and I am loving this lens.
The 150mm is not quite wide enough for pet portraits, but the 500mm more than makes up for that.
The lens is slightly soft at F/6.3 and 500mm
however stop this lens down to F/8 and it is amazing. It is not prime lens quality but at £650 it is good enough for me.
I have taken near 1k of images and only 1 in 10 are blurry (in actual fact of my shots it is 0.47 out of 10).
F/8 is slow if you are in the UK, as most of the year it is overcast or the sun is way down south of the equator. so ISO1600 is a bonus, however I wish i had the new Nikon sensor in my 400D!!
I am now tempted to upgrade to something better!
I have got about 50 photos that I really like and as my experience increases this increases with it. My keep ratio is low at the moment due to experimentation, mostly with that moon, which is deceptively small!
Hopefully I can upload some samples later!!
