Mystery Caterpillar spins cocoon
Posted 15-08-2009 at 06:51 PM by wildlifepilgrim
A week or so ago I found a green caterpillar on my roses. I first thought it was a swafly grub but folk around here think its some kind of lepidopteran larvae. Since we couldn't identify it I decided to put it in a jar and watch what it turns into.

Well after munching through a few rose leaves it has now begun to spin its cocoon between a leaf and the bottom of the jar. We shall get a front row seat come hatching time!
