Operation Sawfly
Posted 24-07-2009 at 07:54 AM by wildlifepilgrim
I see WAB's mission like this
1) Photograph every species of plant and animal found in the UK, from every angle
2) For each species have photos that represent each stage of that creatures life
So in the case of some Rose Sawfly on my roses I have decided to follow two specimins photographically from egg to fly. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will upload to WAB the first pictures of the cocoons of this species. Get in.
Here is one on the 20th July

At this point the caterpillar was about 0.5mm in length
On the 23rd July it was almost twice as big, and a lot thicker.

I wonder how long it will be before its metamorphosis?
