Posted 27-06-2009 at 03:57 PM by RoutlTrc
An afternoon walk at the Carrs today resulted in a singing male Quail being heard in the wet pasture field which is usually frequented by the Short-eared Owls in the winter, this is my first on the patch for a couple of years.Other notable sightings where my first local Red Admirals of the summer, with one watched egg-laying on some nettles. There was the usual meadow species present also,Meadow Brown,Ringlet,Large Skipper,Small Tortoiseshell and a couple of worn Painted lady's.Just a shame about the weather,it stayed gloomy all the time i was on site, but very warm still.
