A wander around the reserve today to see what i could find, saw me recording my first Southern Hawkers of the year(All teneral males) and i even managed some pic's.Also noticeable today where the good numbers of Meadow Brown and Ringlets in the grassy areas and i also saw at least 5 differant male Hairy Dragonflys. This species has shown very well this year,at this, the best site for the species in the county.I also managed to find myself a new species of Hoverfly Chrysotoxum festivum, this is a stunner of a species, being an excellent wasp mimic. The four hours soon passed and it was time to go and pick the wife up from work and i look forward to my next visit.
