Up and Down Birding

Tried to get a picture of the Little Owls near their nest in Ashwell. Using the camera with the scope is often pretty hopeless at long distance if you just try holding the camera like I do. This was the best shot, but still not very clear.
The female owl was not too happy about me being there, so I didn't hang around. Hope to see the fledglings one day soon.
Still haven't seen any Barn Owls in the vicinity, but did here the Grasshopper Warbler in my tetrad again very late in the evening. Would like to try to see breeding evidence, but very hard to find the bird if it doesn't reel and its getting late in the season.
Dipped out on the Night Heron in Cambridgeshire. Very annoyed as the bird was found only 1 mile away just after I left. Couldn't find it the next day either. Did see a very nice Turtle Dove at Little Paxton, though it was too quick for a photo. Too late to hear the Nightingales sadly. Get there earlier next year....
