Bird Surveying

Tried to improve some of the records for the BTO Atlas where I live. Tracked down 5 House Martin nests (one under construction). Not sure if this is the usual number, but I don't recall seeing many in Baldock before anyway. Swallows nesting in the farm barn. Not sure where the Swifts are nesting, but there seems to be very few this year?
Revisted my Tetrad (TL23Q) and added records for Bullfinch and House Martin. Had a nice Hobby overhead which is unusual since there is no water other than small ponds. Still no Spotted Flycatchers, or even Willow Warblers. Might try the other parts of the square (North Weston) just in case.
Also located the Buzzards nest, and heard the youngsters calling I think. Can't view the nest from outside the wood though so will have to wait for the young Buzzards to fledge. I flushed two Muntjac deer. One stood gazing at me from 5m away for 30 seconds until I had to sneeze! Cheeky deer eh?
