Top Poster: glsammy (14,777) | | Welcome to our newest member, mattygroves | | | | Nice place to go for lunch....and between coffee and lunch I managed to see three hides and a screen, though sadly I didn't see the Cettis Warbler(s?) or get as far as the hide where the golden plovers could be seen by the hundred...The garden feeder hide and the Tree Sparrow Farm screen both disappointed... usually both have been popping but almost nil at both today. | | | the chainsaw workers left &
I went to inspect the damage to the wildlife and pick up the litter and I found a water bottle the SCC Workers had left leaned up against a tree & it had 8 pupating larvae in it.
I was unable to leave it there as it had already been moved and disturbed and the Orks may be back tomorrow to finish the damage.

| | | So I was unable to leave them where they were in their natural habitat because 1)-theyd already been moved and disturbed,
2)-because the council workers may be back again tomorrow to finish the damage(which would now be ilegal)&
3)-the bottle was exposed and vertical so it would fill with water.
So I took them home and put them in a suitable temporary container.
It seem to me Local Authorities shirk their legal duties towards wildlife to get jobs done and paychecks... | Active Member | | Comments 0

| | | Took a brief trip out to LHF yesterday afternoon - had planned to depart at 2pm but got stuck with work things so didn't get out until 3.30 and the light was already going. Still, it was nice to get out and I was looking forward to stopping at the bridge to listen out for the water vole which has its territory in the mint and wild cress beds there. It's a lovely spot overlooking a 6-7 ft wide and slow moving field boundary ditch with reeds and mace, water mint and small pockets of duckweed. ... | Wild Member | | Comments 0
