Top Poster: glsammy (14,777) | | Welcome to our newest member, mattygroves | | | | I HAVE to make the effort to get outside and tidy up today. Luckily you can be a bit lazy with a wildlife garden but Lily the dog keeps eating the weeds that are growing against the fence on the driveway (I must remember to take a pic of them and post for an ID on wab!)
The greenhouse is bulging with stuff I've just chucked in, which would be ok with a shed but aint a good look with glass walls.
There's more leaves fallen in the pond and I've got a grand array of pots that are growing... | New Member | | Comments 0
| | | Completed the whole circuit today..with a strorng unpleasant wind coming off the moor. Science teachers have told me that a zero result is still a result.....but a zero result birding is not much fun even if it is still a result.....and today it was pretty much zero...or it seemed like it but when I did my list it wasn't quite.
There were in fact the usual birds at the pond:twenty four Mallard including eight females, maintaining the 2:1 gender ratio, six geese the five residents and the... | Member of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0

| | | I'm a terrible blogger but I'm passionate about our wildlife on this little island.
I'm Aitch to my friends, some-time artist (wildlife naturally), avid gardener, border terrier owner and birder.
I'm starting a wildlife gardening business because I was fed up with travelling from garden-centre to garden centre, trying to find the plants I needed; not to mention the prices they charge!
Since I started gardening for wildlife I've been astonished at what visits. Yesterday I was... | New Member | | Comments 0
| | | In high summer I can set out after the evening meal and still get home in daylight...now it is increasingly a struggle to get out after lunch and do the same but I must keep on trying.
It all looked very bleak but the thermometer registered 12.3° and it was dry. On the down side there was a stiff breeze coming down off the moor that was in my face on the outward trek and this left my eyes watering.
Most of the birds that normally litter my route had departed or gone to ground...not... | Member of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
