Top Poster: glsammy (14,777) | | Welcome to our newest member, adams01 | | | | At the moment I am involved in the identification of species at a meadow within the grounds of a school. We wanted to get a photo of everything so that the kids could go try and find what we "know" is there (and maybe help protect the site). The big problem was trying to photograph the centipedes.
1) They don't like light and so run when disturbed
2) They run fast!
Unfortunately, though I hate bottling wild animals the only way we could do... | Wild Member | | Comments 1
| | | I see WAB's mission like this
1) Photograph every species of plant and animal found in the UK, from every angle
2) For each species have photos that represent each stage of that creatures life
So in the case of some Rose Sawfly on my roses I have decided to follow two specimins photographically from egg to fly. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will upload to WAB the first pictures of the cocoons of this species. Get in.
Here is one on the 20th July... | Wild Member | | Comments 0
| | Posted 23-07-2009 at 11:40 PM by Jonners Ah yes, the school holidays are well and truly upon us, and with them comes the inevitable tension between working and doing more interesting things during the day! As I work mostly from home, that tension is sometimes very "in-your-face" and so I can look forward to six weeks of circus-time - balancing acts, juggling, hopefully a bit of time to clown around, and some animals thrown in for good measure.
Yesterday afternoon, I decided to take the boys to one of our local-ish spots... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0

I thought I may start writing about a few of my "adventures" regarding my little trips out into the countryside looking at and photographing wildlife. There are lots of blogs, some good, some not so good, but if you are reading this one, thanks!
What has got me fired up about wildlife recently is badgers. I'm sure many of you have a badger sett you visit and see badgers on a regular basis. I very occasionally visited a sett and even less occasionally saw badgers.... | New Member | | Comments 1
