|  | | Started off from Cadman's Pool first thing this morning. Went the usual route - down through Anses Wood, along the Dockens Water, up to Sloden, Alderhill Inclosure, Ashley Cross, Hampton Ridge & then back round the outside of Sloden Inclosure.
The sky was clear with a few clouds & a cold breeze.
Highlights were a pair of Ravens flying over Hollyhatch Inclosure, a few Hawfinches in some Alder trees by the stream & my first Tree Pipits of the year singing from the... | Knight Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 1
|  | | Today I walked about 11 miles, in a big loop south from Stoke Row in Oxfordshire (where I also started yesterday). I didn’t really pass through any other villages, just touching on Exlade Street and Checkendon as I made my way back to Stoke Row.
It was a nice walk, on a very pleasant day weather-wise. Much of the walk was on bridleways, which were occasionally muddy but generally OK. A lot of the walk was in woodland, which I always enjoy, and there was a good mixture of woods too... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0

|  | | Nice 12-mile walk today from Stoke Row in the Oxfordshire part of the Chilterns. I'm usually a fair-weather walker (being retired I can choose which days to walk) but I chose to walk today despite the forecast saying there'd be heavy showers in the afternoon. In the event I had a soaking for about 20-25 minutes just before finishing the walk.
Followed a bridleway for some miles to the hamlet of Hailey, then followed a bit of the Chiltern Way for a mile or so. Then followed the Ridgeway... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
