Top Poster: glsammy (14,777) | | Welcome to our newest member, bryan 1 | | I already have my own blog (accessible from my web site) which describes the walks that I go on - I generally walk 12-15 miles, two or three times a week, all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and the southern part of Oxfordshire. Here on my WAB blog I will just comment on the wildlife that I see on my walks. I love being out in the countryside and enjoy seeing all types of wildlife, but I am especially interested in birds and wildflowers. Uncategorized Entries with no category | | This afternoon, about 3.40pm or so, I saw a Great Spotted Woodpecker on one of the feeders on the apple tree in the back garden. I think it was a juvenile, as I couldn't spot any red on its head at all.
We used to get these birds on the feeders fairly regularly. Then about six months some new people moved in next-door-but-one, and started putting out bird food in their garden. Today I did some more bird watching in my parents' garden, again trying to get some photographs with my new camera (I should say that I've been living back with my parents for about the last three years now - they keep muttering something about 'eviction order'!). I had a quick look round the castle there (more impressive than I'd imagined), before retracing my steps along the canal back to Marsworth. ... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | I experimented a bit with my new camera today, taking photos of birds in and around the back garden. Nothing too unusual appeared, though I did see a Pied Wagtail which is an infrequent visitor to the garden, and two Long-tailed Tits landed on a shrub but were off again before I could get a photo. Other than that, it was just a few of the common birds that are usually... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Today I walked about 14.5 miles. Starting from the centre of Chesham, I walked south-east to Latimer, then followed the Chess valley for a short distance before heading back north-west. I then followed a route close to the eastern and northern edges of Chesham, before returning to my start point by the railway station. Little Egret (honest!)
Highlight of the day were two, possibly... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
