I already have my own blog (accessible from my web site) which describes the walks that I go on - I generally walk 12-15 miles, two or three times a week, all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and the southern part of Oxfordshire. Here on my WAB blog I will just comment on the wildlife that I see on my walks. I love being out in the countryside and enjoy seeing all types of wildlife, but I am especially interested in birds and wildflowers.
Chesham walk and Little Egret

Today I walked about 14.5 miles. Starting from the centre of Chesham, I walked south-east to Latimer, then followed the Chess valley for a short distance before heading back north-west. I then followed a route close to the eastern and northern edges of Chesham, before returning to my start point by the railway station.
Little Egret (honest!)
Highlight of the day were two, possibly three, Little Egrets by the river Chess near Latimer. I have heard reports of them being seen here several times, but haven't seen them myself the three times I've walked here before. I first saw a white bird flying down the valley close to the river, which I thought straight away was an egret, then saw two for definite some way off on the ground close to the river. I've seen them many times on the coast and estuaries of Suffolk and Norfolk, but this was the first time I'd seen one inland. Sorry for the very poor quality of the heavily 'cropped' photo, you can just about make out it is a Little Egret.
Other bird sightings today included several Redwings, Jays, Buzzards and yet another Bullfinch.
