I already have my own blog (accessible from my web site) which describes the walks that I go on - I generally walk 12-15 miles, two or three times a week, all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and the southern part of Oxfordshire. Here on my WAB blog I will just comment on the wildlife that I see on my walks. I love being out in the countryside and enjoy seeing all types of wildlife, but I am especially interested in birds and wildflowers.
Pitstone Hill and Wigginton

I walked for about three and a half hours this morning, a circular walk clockwise from Pitstone Hill, on the borders of Bucks and Herts. I first walked uphill into part of the Ashridge estate, then came downhill again before going back up into the beech woods. Close to the Bridgewater Monument I saw about three large Fallow bucks, partly hidden by holly bushes.

A bit further on I came across a flock of small birds, which included Goldcrest and Long-tailed Tit.

I descended into the picturesque village of Aldbury, then went steeply uphill back into Ashridge for a third time. I soon descended again, and crossed a broad valley near Tring and rose up the other side to the village of Wigginton. I turned round and re-crossed the broad valley on a different route (part of the Ridgeway long-distance path), and went throught the woods of Aldbury Nowers (a flock of Fieldfares here refused to co-operate and let me take their photo!) and over Pitstone Hill back to the car park where I'd started.
A real plus was the sight of a Red Kite as I drove home! It was between Dagnall and Edlesborough, and was one of the nearest Kite sightings to my home yet.
