I already have my own blog (accessible from my web site) which describes the walks that I go on - I generally walk 12-15 miles, two or three times a week, all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and the southern part of Oxfordshire. Here on my WAB blog I will just comment on the wildlife that I see on my walks. I love being out in the countryside and enjoy seeing all types of wildlife, but I am especially interested in birds and wildflowers.
Brilliant walk today!

I had a brilliant walk today, 12.5 miles through probably my favourite part of the Chilterns - Coombe Hill, Whiteleaf Hill, Parslow's Hillock, Great Hampden, Little Hampden, Dunsmore, back to Coombe Hill.
Lots of wildflowers - Greater Stitchwort, Bluebells, Yellow Archangel, Yellow Pimpernel, Garlic Mustard, Herb Robert, Wood Speedwell, Germander Speedwell, Common Field Speedwell, Wood Spurge, Woodruff. I saw some lovely Field Pansies beside one path, and I spotted and identified some Sanicle for the first time.
I saw a Hobby, from the top of Whiteleaf Hill, the first time I've seen one on one of my walks (I've only seen them when I've gone somewhere bird watching).
I got a half-decent photo of a Speckled Wood butterfly, which posed for me in a most considerate fashion.
Best of all I came across this spectacular and colourful fungus. I was dead chuffed when CapAndBracket identified it for me here on WAB as a Chicken Of The Woods - one of only two fungi names I know (the other is Fly Agaric).
