I already have my own blog (accessible from my web site) which describes the walks that I go on - I generally walk 12-15 miles, two or three times a week, all over Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and the southern part of Oxfordshire. Here on my WAB blog I will just comment on the wildlife that I see on my walks. I love being out in the countryside and enjoy seeing all types of wildlife, but I am especially interested in birds and wildflowers.
Walking round in circles

I apologise for not posting anything here for a while - my excuses are I've been a bit busy and that I've had PC problems (still ongoing
).
I'm currently walking round in circles!
That is to say I'm doing a series of circular walks. Having walked many long-distance paths within my area over the last 2-3 years, I have spent about six months planning and devising my own unofficial long-distance path. I've called it the Chiltern Chain Walk, and it consists of 20 12-mile circular walks across the Chiltern Hills. Each walk connects to the next one, so they form a 'chain' across the landscape, hence the name. Whether or not anybody else will walk this route remains to be seen - the idea is really just a personal challenge, something I wanted to do for myself, but I will put the route details on my web site eventually and I hope a few people might do at least some of the walks.
I've done the first six walks now (the first four are now written up on my web site), and I hope to continue to do them at a rate of three a week. They've all been very good so far (but then I would say that, wouldn't I!) as I've headed from Dunstable Downs towards Chesham. It's been particularly good walking at this time of year because of all the wildflowers - Bluebells, Lesser Celandine, Greater Stitchwort, Dog's Mercury, Primroses, Cowslips, Wood Anemones, Garlic Mustard, Wood Sorrel amongst others. I've also started to see butterflies - mainly Peacocks at first, with occasional Brimstones, but on the last couple of walks I've seen Orange Tip, Speckled Wood and a Holly Blue.
