A very windy and cold day, but made better by seeing 5 Short-eared Owls.
Other species seen were a flock of around 40 Skylark and a few singletons, also Meadow Pipit, Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer, Stonechat, Peregrine, Kestrel and several Buzzards and Red Kites. Well worth the 4 hours up there.

A cold but bright day, I set off to get some birding in. Visiting Stanton Harcourt (Dix pit) 1st. An old gravel pit next to a landfill site that was packed with Gulls and waterfowl. The highlights there was a 2nd winter Iceland Gull, an adult Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans), and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis). In all 8 species of Gull and 10 species of Duck.

2nd stop was Farmoor reservoir. Pretty quiet there except for Water Pipit, Shelduck, and a Green Sandpiper. Also

Went to the Warburg BBOWT NR at Bix today for the first time in a few years. A lovely frosty morning with Buzzard and Red Kite soaring overhead, flocks of Tits roaming the woods (Long-tailed, Marsh, Great, Blue & Coal) also Great-spot and Green Woodpecker. Fieldfare, Redwing, Mistle & Song Thrush seen. About 50 species in all.
Disturbed a Fox and got a few distant shots as it slunk away and about 5 sighting of Muntjac Deer. The Highlight was a herd of about 50 Fallow Deer. I was crouched

Went to Little Wittenham Wood today, a small nature reserve near me. Comprising of Broadleaf and coniferous woodland + some open areas of grass land sitting below an Archaeological site dating from the Broze Age (Wittenham Clumps). It is also bordered by the River Thames. Its a good site for Birds, Fungi, Mammals and Insects.
Below is a list of birds seen or heard in a 3 hour visit. I also found 6 species of Fungi which includes Green Elfcup and saw a Muntjac Deer and Fox.
