I got a great view of it at the 300mm setting and the light was good, but the resulting images were way too soft. Before I spotted them I'd got my camera out, hoping to take advantage of the afternoon light - but put it back in the kitchen so that I could deal with the goats.
As I walked down the path, shooing the goats ahead of me, I spotted a tree creeper in the hedge - right in front of me. It stayed there in clear view for quite a while. Lovely to watch, but I really regretted not having the... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
|  | Posted 25-01-2008 at 09:43 AM by nutmeg Last night, when letting the dog out before going to bed, I heard a barn owl screeching. I didn't see it unfortunately - but I heard it again several times after going to bed.

The weather was chilly and quite sunny, with thin cloud.
I didn't see many insects - mainly a few flies sunning on the fence. The only ladybird spotted was a harlequin (both adult and pupa)  . There was some sort of small pale yellowish leafhopper too, but no idea what sort it was.
