Quite a few insects and spiders were out - including small tortoiseshell, peacock and brimstone butterflies.
Several different ladybirds were active: 2-spot, 7-spot, harlequin, kidney spot and pine - with 7-spots being easily the most... | Officer of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0

|  | Posted 12-03-2008 at 06:03 PM by nutmeg I went down the garden late this afternoon and was absolutely amazed to see kingfisher fly in from the stream at the bottom of the garden and perch briefly on a branch overhanging the pond. It then disappeared, but I could hear it calling for a while.

|  | Posted 16-02-2008 at 04:44 PM by nutmeg After the frustration of not having my camera with me the last time I saw a tree creeper at close quarters in the garden, today I managed to photograph one  Unfortunately, the borrowed lens I was using didn't do it justice... I got a great view of it at the 300mm setting and the light was good, but the resulting images were way too soft.
