Kingfisher in my garden!
Posted 12-03-2008 at 06:03 PM by nutmeg
I went down the garden late this afternoon and was absolutely amazed to see kingfisher fly in from the stream at the bottom of the garden and perch briefly on a branch overhanging the pond. It then disappeared, but I could hear it calling for a while.
What a thrilling sight - and one I never thought I'd see in my garden

| | I'm not aware of any fish in the pond - it's just a fair-sized 'natural' (unlined) one and the water level fluctuates so much that often in the summer there is barely any water in it (unless the summer happens to be particularly wet...!). My neighbour has a large unnatural one with fish - so perhaps the kingfisher will use that and perch in my garden on occasion. I hope so. I was surprised to see one because there's very little water in the stream at the bottom of the garden, so assumed there was no way a kingfisher would be attracted to my neck of the woods. |
