spent the lst couple of days checking out Peregrine sites from previous years around Northumberland- and pleased to say i confirm at least Nine nesting pairs on eggs and a few possible others! doing well despite the eggers (scum)-
the ospreys are back at several locations -though as not officially known cant say despite wanting to, would save a lot of local folk driving miles to see them when they are here on their doorstep!- head to Kielder, the locals usually advise! (these nests are protected and not accessable otherwise wouldnt even mention for obvous reasons). its interesting though that the public nests do not attract eggers, they head out for the more rural located ones that offers the chance of not being seen?-reason to make public?
Other raptors doing quite well hopefully- Goshawksshould be on nests though not visited any, Hen Harrier pair im aware of (not the North Tynedale pair), and i will not say where- who have raised chicks the last 3 year hopefully in place soon- Ill check them out next couple of weeks- let the season begin!
