What is it with Evolution?

Today I posted up my personal views on Darwins brainchild (here). It's a subject I've been interested in all my life, but these days what should be a considered scientific debate has become a bitter and vicious battleground between armies of evangelical missionaries bringing the very word science into disrepute. The slightest hint from an otherwise reputable professor that there may a slight problem in proving this particular Theory will lead to instant dismissal, and excommunication from the scientific body. as a whole. What is a theory that cannot be questioned? It's a religion, that's what it is. Devoid of a proper belief system, we're starting to deify a whole new set of prophets. Richard Dawkins is God? God I hope not
