Welcome to the Wild About Britain forums | | | | Uncategorized Entries with no category | Good evening today
After the football I have a quick drive out to a site in North Lincs looking for some Short Eared Owl Got there about 3-30 and there was already a number of Bird Watchers there. Saw a Short Eared Owl in a tree at long range nearly straight away(tick 1) and a few minutes later a Female Hen Harrier came in to roost(tick 2)
As I left in the near dark a Barn Owl flew in front of me, I stopped and had a good view for a minute or so | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0

| | I've struggled to get out in the last couple of weeks, so today decided to keep a eye on the Niger and Sunflower hearts feeder to see what fed on them throughout the day
The sunflower feeder has been a great addition, attracting Greenfinch which we never used to get in any great numbers
Today I regularly spotted Greenfinch, with the peak being 4, also plenty of Goldfinch on both feeders, plus a single Blue Tit visited. There was also a time where the House Sparrows... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Apologies for the lateness of this firstly
On Monday I went for a look around a very local patch of mine. A area of land set aside for nature literally 5 minutes from my house. I don't tend to go there much at all, mainly because in summer you just get the local youths about and there is often a fair amount of litter down there it's quite a diverse area, with Woodland, wetland, a River and open grassland.
Anyway, I was a bit short on time on monday so went over... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Something a bit unusual on my local lake today, a striking male Goosander. Frequently dived after fish but I never saw it get any. I'd seen one there once before but I'm told a few winters ago one was on all winter so hopefully this one will stay about
Also good numbers of Tufted Ducks, around 20. Loads of Mallard and a couple of Mute Swan. Around the lake was plenty of the usual Tit species, with the odd Siskin heard and a couple of Goldcrest seen | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 2
