There I found wild thyme, eyebright, harebells, fairy flax and cats ear all over the place. More marsh willowherb, yellow sedge, burnet saxifrage and plenty of knotted pearlwort in flower too.

Lots of interesting woodland flowers on show including giant and nettle-leaved bellflowers, enchanter's nightshade, welsh poppy, wall lettuce and small teasel. By the river and adjoining streams I found water and corn mints, wild angelica, common valerian, yellow loosestrife, water-cress, water forget-me-nots, crosswort and a few monkeyflowers. We started by walking down the hill to the river where I found sticky groundsel growing by the road, welsh poppies and redshank. Down by the river there were flowers such as pink purslane, common chickweed, water forget-me-not, water-cress and a couple of late cuckooflowers. In the water meadows I found common valerian, common hemp-nettles, blue-water speedwell, lesser stitchwort and water purslane. | | Posted 05-08-2008 at 09:37 AM by leifus Hetton is a place in the Yorkshire Dales but when we visited it rained heavily so we had to retreat quite quickly.
I saw biting stonecrop, shining crane's-bill and meadow crane's-bill growing on/by the walls as well as water purslane and dame's-violet.
In the meadows, a couple of brave ringlets and a meadow brown fluttered around in a brief break from the rain, but luckily most flowers are out even when its raining. There was a lot of great burnet, water-cress, harebells, betony, crosswort,... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | | Comments 0
| | Posted 05-08-2008 at 09:32 AM by leifus A quick walk down to Bridgehouse Beck this afternoon (looking for wall browns but only managed green-veined whites and meadow browns).
There is a lot of the invasiveindian balsam flowering by the river alongside rosebay, great and broad-leaved willoherbs. By the water there was common chickweed and pink purslane and in the water meadows I found wild angelica, water purslane and greater birdsfoot trefoil.
