For as long as I can remember I've had a love of natural history, especially birds.
So many of the things we see, the experiences we taste, are but a fleeting moment, there to be treasured, but all too often flying away to rest only in our memories. I'm trying to improve my photography so that it too can try and capture some of those moments. As I look at the WAB gallery, I'll have to let my admiration lead to aspiration, not desparation. In the meantime, I can jot down a few experiences and thoughts by way of a blog - nothing too profound, just what it says on the tin... my miscellaneous musings. Thanks for taking the time to have a look and please feel free to leave any comments.

Worth the Monet

It's strange how sometimes those days when you imagine you'll have no time to stop and admire the wildlife around you can throw up a few surprises. Today was one of those days, with a cracking view of a buzzard around 20 feet above the car as I motored down the A11 this morning. No time or place to stop, unfortunately, but always a treat to see these magnificent birds of prey, and a fairly regular location now.
After my first spot of work, a drive over the Gog Magog Hills to Cambridge "forced" me to pull over to get a shot of this field of poppies. It reminded me of a tie I used to wear, taken from a Monet painting of a field of poppies (remember those ties?
)

More work to do in Cambridge, and I was still 10 minutes late collecting our youngest from school. No-one wanted to go out later, so I thought that might be it, but a late night fox crossing the road was an exciting sight; we don't see many around here, and this one looked to be a youngster, running around on the edge of one of the housing estates on the western side of town.
Finally, a beautiful swallowtail moth decided to grace us with its presence; Julia found this one upstairs, no doubt attracted to the light through an open window, and now safely returned to the great outdoors.
