gall wasps
Posted 08-03-2008 at 09:28 AM by hedgerow
To begin with today 2 Diplolepis rosae exited from bedgeuar gall 5 and one assumed Torymus auratus (yet to be confirmed) exited from an Oak marble gall that previously had no other exits.
Then from old reliable bedeguar gall 3 came 2 Orthopelma mediator tough one of them is considerably bigger than the other one and in fact all the rest that have exited so far. It also has no visible ovipositor which would suggest a male, but the gaster (abdomen) is twice the size of the others, which is usually the case of the female over the male.
Will try to take pics of later and post to forum for ideas.
Total exits for bedeguar gall 3 so far are 117 Diplolepis rosae and 10 Orthopelma mediator
