| | Mushroom pickingBuy a bucket of seeded dung and keep it moist in a cellar or other dark preferably warm place...if it is a good bucket you will get plenty of mushrooms. I have been horrified to see television programmes almost encouraging watchers to go pick mushrooms from the wild (Not just mushrooms). I know what gets picked is the spore bearing bodies and the main part of the plant is in the ground but picking wild mushrooms is not going to promote our biodiversity requirements. The fact that some deadly mushrooms require really expert knowledge to differentiate from edible varieties makes it a dodgy business if there were not conservation issues to consider. I'd rather leave a mushroom growing, take only photographs, leave only footprints and preserve a little bit more of our natural world for the next generation. |
