Welcome to the Wild About Britain forums | | | | | Posted 02-03-2008 at 06:40 PM by GuyF Still didn't manage to get out anywhere today, but the birds over the house and garden were enough to keep me occupied!
Firstly, today there were 3 Ravens over the house at one point! However, there were 2 around the area for most of the day, flying back and forth over the house and garden, one of them was carrying some large sticks in it's beak at one point. I may be being a bit optimistic, but it would be amazing if they decided to breed nearby.

| | Posted 01-03-2008 at 06:43 PM by GuyF Had an exciting morning in the garden today. Firstly, there was a Kestrel hovering over the field behind the house, I haven't seen one here for a long time, unfortunately it didn't stick around long. The local Buzzards were also very active, there were atleast 5 circling, and they kept flying low over the house.

| | Posted 28-02-2008 at 09:59 PM by GuyF Had an unexpected garden sighting today when a Peregrine flew over, quite high up. It headed towards some pylons, circled them a couple of times and then landed on one of them. I managed to watch it for a while through the telescope, but it was very distant. It's been a long time since I last saw one over the garden, and I'll keep looking out for it over the next few weeks.
Still getting a few Siskins around, about 8 today, also loads of Goldfinches and a male Pheasant thats been taking advantage... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Posted 24-02-2008 at 07:18 PM by GuyF Headed out to Hartland Moor today in the afternoon. I decided to have a quick look in at a Sand Lizard site to see if any were out and about. I wasn't particularly surprised to find no lizards as although it was warm the sun wasn't out and there was a cool breeze, however I did find one Slow-worm! I was pleased to see it, as it's the first time I've seen one on the heaths and it's the first time I've been able to get a photo of one! ... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Posted 23-02-2008 at 08:51 PM by GuyF Yesterday I headed towards Hampshire, and although the weather wasn't great there were lots of nice birds to be seen.
First stopped at Keyhaven Marshes. A very high tide meant that there were a lot of Brent Geese paddling around a few metres away from the road, allowing good photo opportunities!
I went to look for the Lapland Bunting that's been reported from the stubble fields there, but... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 3
