Had an exciting morning in the garden today. Firstly, there was a Kestrel hovering over the field behind the house, I haven't seen one here for a long time, unfortunately it didn't stick around long. The local Buzzards were also very active, there were atleast 5 circling, and they kept flying low over the house.

As I was trying to photograph the Buzzards, a Peregrine (probably the same one as I saw a couple of days ago) started circling over the nearby fields and woodland, it was around for a few minutes and it was amazing to be able to watch it from the house!
This is probably the best shot I got.

To complete the bird of prey set, a Sparrowhawk flew over a couple of times.
A bit later on, I looked out of the window to see a Raven flying over the trees, I was really surprised to see it, and it's the first one I've seen near the house. It then went on to circle the area, calling.

There were still 11 Siskins visiting the feeders, and a Long-tailed Tit has started pecking at the front windows, I suppose it can see a reflection and thinks it's a rival, but it's strange to see!

| | That's a good morning's bird watching! I'd love to have a morning like that in my garden! I experienced something similar with a Long-tailed Tirt recently, and discussed it on this thread (just in case you missed it): http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...iled-tits.html |

| | Sorry Pete, only just noticed this (didn't realise we were now moderating our own comments!). I hadn't seen that thread, it's very interesting to see that you've had the same thing, I felt a bit sorry for the LTT, it seems like such a waste of energy for them! I haven't seen it at the window for a few days now, so hopefully it's given up for the time being! |
