Of Deer and Helicopters

Thursday being my day off I decided to go on a walk and take some photos. I walked to my usual spot and didnt see anything apart from an old Wrens nest which had I of noticed before they left, would of given me some good shots. Anyway got to my usual spot and decided to carry on down to cannop ponds which anyone who knows the forest of dean is usually bustling with birds etc. Anyway as I walked through the wood I managed to spot a fallow deer buck and got one good shot before it ran off I did manage to move about 2 foot before it did run though which I was impressed with. I carried on and changed my mind about walking to cannop and went towards one of the forestry commision plantations where I saw 3 Fallow deer and some buzzards the previous week. I set up my camera and sat down to wait. I could hear the buzzards and could see a flock of swallows flying around catching insects etc so i began clicking away. After about 10 mins a low flying army helicopter came over and though I did manage to get some good shots of it, it scared everything else away.
After this set back I decided to pack up and go home. I will have to try again another day.

| | There's something special about meeting deer in the forest, especially if/when they turn and look at you and you both freeze, staring at each other, and you know that YOU are on THEIR turf. Hope you fare even better next time. |
