Welcome to the Wild About Britain forums | | | |  | | Helped with a conservation task clearing Birch in the Forest today.
The birdlife was pretty quiet but I did manage to hear & see Coal Tits, Blue Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Siskins, Jays, Robins, Wrens & the carcass of a Buzzard.
A few fungi about: Stereum hirsutum, Phellinus sp., Scitzopora paradoxa, Yellow Brain fungus, Yellow Stagshorn, Beech Woodwart, Green Wood Cup, Common Jelly Spot & some Puffballs (too old to ID).

|  | | Started off from Mark Ash Wood, half way up the Bolderwood Ornamental Drive this afternoon.
As I walked through the ancient Oaks & Beech trees there were loads of Great, Blue & Coal Tits foraging in the leaf litter, with Nuthatch & Great Spotted Woodpecker in the branches above them. A Nuthatch was singing in the distance.
Straight into North Oakley Inclosure. All that was about in here were some Goldcrest in the Douglas Firs as I walked along the grass track. I crossed... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 4
|  | | Had to do some more visiting today, but managed to slip out for a wander this afternoon.
Luckily wasn’t far from the western edge of the Forest so decided to go to Linford bottom.
Got to the car park & it looked like everyone had the same idea as me, so I just managed to find a space.
Walked along the Linford Brook for 2/3 of a mile & then up towards Pinnick Wood. Just in front of the wood a Great Spotted Woodpecker was working a small tree, a Green Woodpecker was working... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 2
|  | | Parked up at Anderwood in the New Forest this afternoon & decided just to walk around the Inclosures. I crossed the road & walked through Dames Slough Inclosure, Burley Old Inclosure & Burley New Inclosure. Then crossed the road again & went through Burley Outer Rails, South Oakley, North Oakley, Mark Ash Wood & Anderwood Inclosure.
The sun did come out, but it was very hazy through the trees & by 3pm it was getting foggy.
