|  | Walked from Cadman’s Pool at dawn this morning. It was just about light at 7.20am, the sun was turning the sky red & a cold breeze was blowing.
I walked through Anses Wood & the Robins & Song Thrushes were singing. As I got further down the hill I heard a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming in front of me & another was replying deeper in the trees (first of the year).... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 3
|  | | Decided to have a walk around Mark Ash & a bit of North Oakley Inclosure this morning.
Started off from the gravel pull in at 7.40am.
The Robins & Wrens were singing away as usual & were joined by Song & Mistle Thrush. As I walked around the wood there were plenty of Great, Blue & Marsh Tits, Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker & a Goldfinch called as it flew over head. |  | | Had a couple of hours free again this afternoon which meant only a short walk so I decided to cheat again & have a look at the Hawfinches coming in at the Arboretum.
Got there at 3.30pm, so missed most of them, but I did manage to see about 4 or 5.
Also about were the Bullfinches, Chaffinches, Wren, Robins, Greenfinch, Blue & Coal Tits, a Jay calling, Nuthatch & some Siskins calling.

|  | | Helped a friend out with an 8 mile Ramble for the public around Burley today.
We started off from Burbush car park, went along the old railway line for a bit & then went over the heath at Slap & Shappen Hill, along the Burley golf course, along the road, out onto the heath again at Burley Rocks, over Rooks Bridge, into Burley New Inclosure, South Oakley Inclosure, Berry Wood, crossed the heath to Ridley Wood, up to Verely Hill, then down to Castle Hill & then down the cycle track... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 2
