Welcome to the Wild About Britain forums | | | | | | Helped out with a litter pick on the Forest today. We ended up with eleven people in total, which is double the amount we get most years.
We started from Setley car park & did the general area & along the road for a couple of hours.
Along the way we saw & heard:
Skylarks
Lapwings
Meadow Pipits
Snipe
Linnets
Stonechats
Robins
Buzzards
Green Woodpecker
Fieldfares

| | | Parked up a Shatterford car park as it was getting light at 6.20am this morning. It was mostly cloudy with a slight breeze.
I could hear Mistle Thrushes & Goldcrest singing from the trees near the car park as soon as I got out of the car.
As I walked over the heath next to the railway line there were Meadow Pipits doing there song-flights (first for me this year), Dartford Warblers were calling, Stonechats were singing & a flock of Redpolls flew over. A pair of Curlew called... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | | Pine pull on the heath at Dur Hill Down today.
There was a bit of sun & a strong wind.
Heard my first Skylark of the year singing there & as we moved across the heath we must've put up about 12 Snipe during the morning.
Also about were Curlew, Buzzard & Kestrel.
We ran out of pines to pull at lunch time so we fininshed early today. I decided to take those who were up for it for a walk around Dur Hill Inclosure to the Sand Lizard site, then... | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | Had the time to go out first thing in the morning again today so I decided to do the same route as on the 16th Feb from Blackwater to have another look at the Kingfisher.
Saw the same birds & deer as last weekend here including the Kingfisher & Hawfinches in Brinken Wood but not the Woodlark.
Extra birds today though were a couple of Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, one in Brinken Wood & one at Fletchers Thorns & three Lapwings were on Wide Lawn. | Commander of the Wild Empire | | Comments 0
| | | Went for a walk around Frame Heath Inclosure, Hawkhill Inclosure, & Frame Wood first thing this morning.
Sika hinds were all over the place & a herd of Fallow was in Hawkhill Inclosure.
The other highlights today was a Woodlark doing his song-flight on the clear-fell area at the end of Frame Heath Inclosure & a large flock of Reed Buntings.
Also seen & heard:
Great Spotted Woodpeckers
Green Woodpecker
